Fire up the Grill - Tips for Outdoor Entertaining

There's a lot more to hosting a great barbecue than just throwing burgers on a grill. Molly Maid asked caterers and party planners for their top outdoor entertaining tips. These pearls of wisdom are sure to make your next backyard gathering fun for everyone - even the host and hostess!

Prepare in Advance
You'll want to spend as much time as possible with your guests during the party, so prepare as much of the food as you can in advance. Make salads, side dishes and desserts the day before. Make your marinades and sauces in advance and prepare the meat before your guests arrive. Gather and clean all your barbecuing utensils in advance and keep them together on a tray or table near the grill. This keeps you near the barbecue (and your guests who will naturally congregate there) and helps you avoid unnecessary trips to the kitchen.

Think Beyond Burgers
Hot dogs, burgers, steaks and chicken are always barbecue favorites. But why not try something new? Use a barbecue basket to grill shrimp. Shish kabobs are easy to prepare in advance and refrigerate. | more

Keep Kids Busy During Summer

For parents and grandparents of school-age kids, "I'm bored" is a familiar summertime refrain. It's understandable. During the school year, children get used to a regular routine with structured time for play, lessons, rest and exercise.

While you won't want to plan out every moment of summer vacation, childcare experts and educators say creating a regular, daily schedule helps children enjoy their time away from school.

Break the day into smaller chunks of time, with dedicated time for play, lessons, rest and exercise. Let your child decide what he or she wants to do during each timeframe.

Find something your child is good at and encourage him or her to develop that skill or hobby. Consider language lessons, playing the guitar, painting, or baking. | more

Creative Gift Ideas
The Art of Thoughtful Giving

What makes a great gift? It's not how much you spend, and it's not giving something the recipient was hoping for. In fact, the most memorable gifts are seldom chosen from a gift registry. The best gifts are usually surprises - things the recipient will love, but didn't even realize he or she wanted. When you put a bit of thought and creativity into a special present, you'll understand why people say, "it's the thought that counts." Here are a few creative gift ideas that will really show how much you care:

Honor a Special Year
Whether you are celebrating a 50th anniversary or a milestone birthday, consider creating a themed gift basket full of mementos from a special year. For example, a couple married in 1957 might enjoy a gift basket featuring a Life Magazine from the month of their wedding, a replica '57 Chevy, a DVD of a popular motion picture from that year, and a gift certificate to a nearby drive-in restaurant. Use your imagination! Used book stores, antique shops and online auction sites (like Ebay) are great places to find items from a particular year | more

The Health Benefits of Soy
One of the world's top cancer researchers says he drinks three glasses of soy milk every day.

Why? He knows a secret passed down through the ages: Soy is a super food providing incredible health benefits.

The Chinese discovered the health benefits of soy about 6,000 years ago. And modern research confirms what the ancients knew. A diet rich in soy may lower the risk of heart disease, osteoporosis - even cancer. This may explain why Asians, with diets typically rich in soy, tend to have lower rates of these diseases than Americans and Europeans.

Want to enjoy the health benefits of soy? It's easier than you might think! Here are a few of our favorite ways to get soy into your diet:| more
