Mostly all formulas of mascaras contain a variation oils, dyes, and waxes. After a long day or night out, these ingredients mix with dirt, oils, and skin follicles from your face. Sounds like a recipe for quite the mess right? Just ask your towels and washcloths! In this blog, we will discuss how NOT to let mascara stains ruin your towels.

The number one thing to do to help keep mascara off your towels is to remove makeup before using your towels. Makeup remover towels are a good way to remove makeup and prevent mascara stains on towels. They are commonly sold where most makeup is and is also available in most retail stores. If you are looking for an alternative, some even suggest using baby wipes to remove makeup!

However, if you do use a towel to remove makeup, follow these steps for removing those pesky mascara stains:

1. Don’t let the stain set in!

The worse thing that you can do is NOT try to remove the stain soon. The longer you wait to wash mascara stains from your towels, the less likely they are to come out!

2. Dampen the stain with cold water.

3. Rub with quality dish soap.

4. Flush with water from the opposite side of the towel.

5. Use a pretreatment for any remaining stains and send the towels through the wash.

6. Repeat steps 2-5 if necessary.

Lastly, you may want to make it easier for yourself by not using light-colored towels. Try using towels of a darker variety, such as black, dark green or navy. For a visit from the cleaning experts at Molly Maid, contact your local Molly Maid today.
