Proud to Help Those Who Serve

Military service is a sacrifice that many individuals and families choose to make to help ensure the safety and freedom of our nation. Although military service is a rewarding and worthwhile experience, it also comes with challenges that extend beyond military service. Molly Maid, a Neighborly company, is proud to have recently supported a couple who served our country.

Enduring Relationship

Childhood sweethearts Justin and Kristie Ziegler first met in 8th grade in South Florida and have supported one another through many hardships and challenges. They even decided to join the Air Force together and were married just before Kristie left for basic training in 2003.

They were stationed together at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. Staff Sergeant Justin Ziegler was assigned to the 60th CES Wing as a Fire Protection Technician. He was soon deployed to Afghanistan to support “Operation Enduring Freedom.” Justin’s duties involved being a 1st Responder to medical emergencies. As a first responder, Justin witnessed the crippling effects that stress, trauma, and PTSD can have on military service members.

Senior Airman Kristie Ziegler quickly emerged as a rising star and natural leader after completing her formal training as a Dietary Technician and was awarded ”Airman of the Year” in 2006. When Kristie deployed to Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan, her role changed dramatically. She provided treatment to soldiers and civilians wounded in battle. One of Kristie’s hardest and most heartbreaking struggles was treating young children.

Transitioning Home

Deployments, which separated them for long periods, and witnessing tragic events made life in the military challenging for Justin and Kristie. While both still struggle with PTSD, the support and love they provide each other is the foundation for a loving home for their two children and pets.

Recently, Molly Maid was proud to have partnered with Military Makeover with Montel, to help military veterans Justin and Kristie Ziegler transition to civilian life. The home improvement series, which helps rebuild veterans’ homes, celebrated its 30th military makeover. Local Molly Maid franchise owners Christian and Liz Aquino from West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach, Florida, jumped at the opportunity to help.

Proud Partners

The makeover started with a “Big Clean” on the evening of Monday, March 21, 2022, and continued bright-and-early Tuesday morning to complete the finishing touches. Mary Thompson, Neighborly COO, and a veteran herself, participated in the show to provide her support and show her appreciation to Justin and Kristie. The couple also received a $500 Neighborly gift voucher to use for any additional home service work that needs to be done.

Military Makeover with Montel is hosted by Navy veteran and military advocate Montel Williams and dedicated to giving back a fraction of what our military sacrifices for us. Each 30-minute episode shows the challenges many veterans face when they return home. The miniseries brings together decorators, designers, landscapers, home renovation, and service experts to transform the home—and life—of the selected military family.

Episodes air on the Lifetime Television Network and on the American Forces Network. To allow viewers further access, episodes can also be streamed on the STIRR TV network and 24 hours a day on the Military Makeover website.
