Donna Reilly, owner of Molly Maid of Arnold, MD supports the local YWCA during Molly Maid’s annual Ms. Molly Making a Difference Drive. On Nov. 5, the YWCA will host Disco Magic: a cocktail hour, silent and live auctions, followed by a disco dance at the BWI Hilton Hotel. Everyone comes dressed in Disco attire and when the auction activities are done, they have a DJ come play disco music and we dance the night away. Last year’s event raised over $100,000. Reilly is a member of the Ms. Molly Foundation’s Board of Directors and a member of the Disco Magic planning committee.

The following excerpt appeared in the Winter 2010 newsletter for YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County:
…A Letter to a YWCA counselor
Almost one year ago, I was in a very dark place. My spirit was crushed, my heart broken, and my purpose in the world was dimmed. You and the YWCA took me in under your wing and spiritually nursed me back into the healthy woman and mother you see today.
…God has truly blessed you with the gift of compassion and healing. You have healed my heart. I am forever grateful to you and the YWCA for all that you have done. Each year, the YWCA’s counseling staff help hundreds of people accomplish a similar journey to healing as that experienced by this young woman. Our skilled staff provide counseling services not only at our headquarter location in Arnold but also at the Department of Social Services in Annapolis and to residents at Arden House. Counseling services are available to adults and children and focus on victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse, but general counseling services are also available. Services focus on breaking the cycle of violence by providing an explanation of the control that perpetuates abuse occurring in the home, defining characteristics of individuals that abuse, the correlation between domestic violence and substance abuse, emotional abuse, safety planning and the effects of domestic violence on children and pregnancy. Day and evening appointments are available with fees based upon the client’s income. In addition to individual, couples or family counseling, YWCA support groups offer a safe, non-threatening environment for survivors of domestic violence.
