Molly Maid knows your time is valuable, which is why we created the “What’s Your Time Worth” Calculatorto show you exactly how much time you’re giving up to clean your home. In our new weekly blog series– Free Time Fridays, we want to explore the novelty of free time. Instead of spending your much anticipated weekend chained to your home, take the opportunity to enjoy the things you love most. Each Friday we will feature a new bundle of activities to enjoy while Molly Maid does your dirty work…literally.
This week, we wanted to feature how your time could be well spent for the benefit of others. This weekend, try thinking about what you could do for someone in need with your new found free time.
Find a cause you’re passionate about: The Ms. Molly Foundation was founded based on a passion of one individual. Since the foundation was created in 1996, the efforts behind this admirable nonprofit have raised over a million dollars in funds to help victims of domestic violence. No matter what you’re passionate about, Charity Navigator can help you find a worthy & accountable cause that inspires you.
Practice your patriotism: Our own Mr. Handyman practices their patriotism each year during The National day of Service on September 11. Mr. Handyman technicians donate their professional services to Children’s hospitals, domestic violence shelters, volunteer fire stations, homes of military veterans, and other groups in need across the country. To get involved in your local National Day of Service, enter your zip code on the National Day of Service page to find opportunities to serve.
Feel cool doing it: Many companies like Waveborn combine social good with fashion—for every pair of Waveborn sunglasses you purchase, you get to choose your social touch. Either give a pair of prescription glasses to a someone in need, or donate a portion of funds to a sight restoring surgery in the developing world. Social good and giving back is a trend that’s influencing social media, marketing, and business models in a huge way. Although traditional volunteering continues to make an impact, it doesn’t take getting up and donating your time and energy to make a social impact anymore. You’ll feel great, and you’ll have a sweet new pair of shades.
Put your skills to work: Finding an event in your community and getting your friends involved is a fun way to spend your weekend while making an impact. Put your strengths to good use and take part in a project you’re proud of. Check out Habitat for Humanity to find a project in your area.
Comment and share with us the social impact you could have this weekend if you didn’t have to clean your home!
