A House Cleaning Checklist for Your Maid or Professional Cleaning Service

People often have a specific area or part of their home that when cleaned, makes them feel as if their house looks a million times better. Whether true or not, it doesn’t really matter. As long as it makes that person feel better, then it’s worth spending a little extra time on that special area.

For many with hardwood floors (especially those with pets), you know that when the floor is properly cleaned and is free of dust bunnies, crumbs, scuff marks, and more — your home looks significantly better. Perhaps you really love it when your baseboards are gleaming white, instead of their usual dusty/grime-ish hue. Or it could be your bathrooms that you like “eat off the floor” (Molly Maid does NOT recommend this) clean. Whatever it is, it’s your home, and it should be your cleaning plan.

If you hire a professional home cleaning service like Molly Maid, it’s perfectly acceptable to create a house cleaning checklist for the home service professionals who will be cleaning your home. However, we recommend communicating your custom cleaning plan prior to your initial cleaning appointment with your local Molly Maid. That way, everyone is on the same page in terms of expectations.

We recommend making your home cleaning checklist in order of priority. That way, your home cleaning professional knows what’s most important to you right off the bat. For example, a great way to structure the list is as follows:

Cleaning List in Order of Priority

  1. Baseboards
  2. Upstairs Guest Bathroom
  3. Upstairs Guest Bedroom — please also change sheets on bed
  4. Living Room Floors
  5. Master Bedroom
  6. Remainder of House

So long as your home cleaning professionals are aware of what you’d like to have extra time spent on i.e. baseboards, floors, master bath, etc. you’ll have the perfect custom cleaning plan that fulfills you’re home cleaning needs.
