How to Pack for the Beach

Nothing says summer vacationLink opens in a new tab like a day at the beach! All you can think about is what fun you’ll have with your family, but it’s also important to slow down and take time to pack carefully for your trip. Make sure you don’t forget anything essential by following these beach packing tips.

Pick the Right Bags

Pack most of your beach essentials in a large canvas or woven PVC bag with zippered compartments to keep sand off delicate items, such as your phone or camera. For added protection, consider placing these items in disposable zip-top sandwich bags.

No one likes to bring the beach home with them, so remember to pack toys in a mesh bag. This way, you can shake the sand out before loading the bag into the car at the end of the day.

Bring several plastic grocery bags. Use one as a garbage bag for food wrappers and drink containers and use the others to pack up wet towels and swimsuits at the end of the day.

Pack the Essentials

The morning of your trip, load up the car with everything you need. Here’s how to pack for the beach.

You’ll want to wear your swimsuit under your clothes, so you can strip down and hop in the water right away. As you’re packing your beach bag, be sure to include these other clothing items:

  • T-shirt, shorts, sundress, or other swimsuit cover-ups
  • Extra swimsuit
