They assessed the situation and how much they wanted to get done in the time allotted, and then went to it. They cleaned “appropriately”, meaning that they didn’t spend too much time on things that mattered very little and too little time on others. I doubt that my house will ever be (what my late wife used to call) “Mother in-law clean”, but it is now more than presentable.
